Over a period of two years, photographer Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson and author Unnur Jökulsdóttir traveled the length and breadth of Iceland and visited people from all over the country. The result of their journey is the book Icelanders, which contains 200 haunting photos of people and nature, amusing dialogged, and lyrical narrative spiced with gentle humor. Small-boat fishermen, jacks-of-all-trades, tourist farmers, fox hunters, rock collectors, hired women, and children of nature are among the people we meet – people who want to live their lives according to their own designs, in the environment they know best.
